CHTA Bulletin August 2009 CHTA Announces New Executive Director CHTA’s President, Mike Fata is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Shukla to the position of Executive Director. Kim, a Professional Agrologist and has been working in the Canadian agricultural sector for over 20 years. Kim’s experience nationally and internationally in project management including research and analysis as well as local involvement in farming provides the CHTA with a depth of experience required to move the organization ahead. “The Board of Directors is excited and invested in the future of hemp and having strong leadership in our office will assist us in achieving our aggressive plans for growing our industry”, says President Fata. “The tremendous potential that exists for hemp is what draws me to the industry. I look forward to being part of the emergence of an industry sector, a crop, which has such widespread application. We have the potential to be a major contributor to Canada’s agriculture future”, says Executive Director, Shukla. Kim can be reached at email kim@hemptrade.ca Searchable Membership Database In the Works Within the next few months the CHTA will have an online membership database. Members will have the option of being part of a searchable database. What does this mean? The office receives requests from potential customers on a regular basis. The database will allow us to search our membership and forward requests in a timely fashion. It will also allow you, as a member, to search the database and connect with other members, source supplies and source products. Over the next few months we will be working on collecting information. Our goals is to have the database ready by the fall. Annual Convention November 17 & 18 Mark your calendars, November 17 and 18, 2009 are the dates for the CHTA Annual Convention. The Victoria Inn in Winnipeg, Manitoba will host the event. The conference is for anyone interested in the many opportunities that hemp offers as a crop that will mark Canada’s future. With over 200 participants expected from around the globe this is an educational and networking experience you will not want to miss.
